Action for Afghanistan

Action for Afghanistan

During the war in Afghanistan - the longest in Australia’s history - we promised the people of Afghanistan we'd give protection to persecuted groups, including women.

Since Kabul fell in August 2021, the Afghanistan-Australian community has called on our government to live up to that promise by offering 20,000 additional humanitarian places to people escaping the Taliban.

But instead of offering additional humanitarian visas, Immigration Minister Alex Hawke has shuffled existing visas around to give the impression of action, where there is none.

Meanwhile, women activists and vulnerable groups, such as the Hazara people, are being targeted and terrorised by the Taliban.

We can't let our elected representatives stand by while this humanitarian crisis unfolds. Please take action now.

Our goal is to organise delegations of 20+ people for each MP in Sydney. To prepare everyone, we will bring together local advocates on Wednesday 29th of September, from 5:30pm to 7pm. You will hear from Afghan-Australian leaders who will share their experiences and outline why and how you can take action. Through our collaborations, we will be able to support anyone in Australia to act, not only Sydney-siders.
